Parents and students can attend a 1-hour session on Thursday, August 4th following the Mission: Strings Camp Showcase concert to learn about the Mission: Strings program and choose and rent their instrument! N-Tune will be there to help size kids and set up rental and buying options.
To bridge the gap between our awesome Mission: Strings programs and the Abilene Youth Orchestra, we are offering a new class for string players ready for a new challenge, but not quite ready for the demands of the advanced AYO repertoire. This class will be taught by McKenzie Rangel who is the orchestra director at Clack Middle School. This high energy class will be by audition only, and will help students improve string technique, music literacy, and more advanced sightreading skills.
These classes will meet Sunday afternoons, 2:30pm-4:30pm, at the ACU Williams Performing Arts Center and will have their debut performance at the AYO Spring Concert!
AUDITIONS: September 5th and 6th – ACU Williams Performing Arts Center
Students will be asked to play something they feel best represents their playing and a scale of their choice.
This expansion of the Mission: Strings preparatory program is made possible through a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Abilene. Thanks to their generous support our programs can now serve more string kids!
